A Legacy of Care

Founded in 1995, Bakersfield Family Medical Center was born from a simple belief — that every family in Bakersfield deserves access to high-quality, affordable, and compassionate medical care, close to home. What began as a small neighbourhood practice on California Avenue has grown into one of Kern County's most trusted primary care centres.

Over the past three decades, we have cared for thousands of Bakersfield families across every stage of life — from welcoming newborns to supporting seniors with chronic conditions. From a small neighbourhood practice to Kern County's most trusted family medical centre.

1995

The Beginning

Bakersfield Family Medical Center opens its doors at 4580 California Avenue, founded with a mission to provide affordable, high-quality primary care to Kern County families.

2000

Growing Our Patient Family

By the turn of the millennium, we had welcomed over 1,000 Bakersfield families into our practice, expanding our clinical team to meet the growing demand for primary care in the region.

2005

Expanded Services

We launched dedicated chronic disease management programmes for diabetes and hypertension patients — two of the most prevalent conditions affecting Kern County residents.

2010

Dedicated Pediatric Care

We expanded our paediatric programme to offer comprehensive well-child visits, full immunization schedules, and adolescent health services for Bakersfield's youngest patients.

2018

Technology Upgrade

Introduced our electronic health records system and online patient portal, making it easier for Bakersfield families to manage appointments, refills, and medical records.

2020

Telehealth Launch

In response to community needs, we launched our HIPAA-compliant telehealth platform — bringing secure virtual consultations to Bakersfield patients from the comfort of their homes.

2025
